The new face-lifted Outlander crossover

Mitsubishi Motors (UK) has just announced details of the new face-lifted Outlander crossover, which boasts a number of new features including the availability of the twin-clutch Sports Shift Transmission SST (also found on Lancer Evolution and Lancer Ralliart models).
The ‘Juro’ Special Edition
The first derivative of the new range will be a Special Edition variant, the “Juro” which will be available at Mitsubishi dealers from 1st July, the rest of the range will arrive in October.New Outlander - Product Enhancements

• Twin-clutch SST Transmission
The SST ‘auto’ transmission (except Equippe) uses two clutches, one to engage the gear in use the other to pre-select the next gear required, which ensures that the gear change takes place instantaneously. This innovative technology saves on CO2 emissions and massively reduces power loss through the range. With no torque converter, this 6-speed TC-SST gearbox is more efficient than a normal automatic.
• Hill start assist
Hill start assist automatically holds the brakes for about 2 seconds to prevent the vehicle from slipping backwards on steep slopes.
• Upgraded ETACS
Electric Time and Alarm Control System (ETACS) controls the functionality of all electronic devices on board
• Emergency Stop signal System (ESS)

The new Outlander range comes complete with 12-month / 12,500 mile service intervals, and for just £315 including VAT the customer gains 3-years / 37,500 servicing under the Mitsubishi Service Plan (MSP).

The balance of the new Outlander range will go on sale from 1st October. The line up will be simplified and will mirror the current Equippe, Warrior and Elegance range.
As the SST auto transmission will be optional on Warrior and Elegance trim levels and no Elegance petrol auto derivative. As well as the availability of the SST auto, the new Outlander range will also feature a 2WD diesel opportunity, which has proved very popular on other vehicles in this class - often taking up to 30% model mix.

MITSUBISHI MOTORS' i-MiEV AWARD

MITSUBISHI MOTORS' i-MiEV AWARDED WITH THE "ENVIRONMENT SPECIAL GRAND PRIZE" AT THE 25TH INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE FESTIVAL IN PARIS
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced that its new -generation electric vehicle i-MiEV has been awarded with the “Environment Special Grand Prize” during the 25th International Automobile Festival held in Paris, France on February 4, 2010.
The i-MiEV was selected amongst 4 nominees each representing "concrete projects for sustainable mobility in terms of environmental protection or security" by a panel of 18 design, fashion, automotive and media luminaries.
As commented by Kiyoshi Teshima, President of Mitsubishi Motors France who received the award on behalf of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation: "This Grand Prize is a great honour and is a further incentive for our engineers to continue pursuing Mitsubishi Motors’ pioneering work in promotion of popularisation of alternative powertrains.”
Japan, the i-MiEV has already been on the market since July 2009 whilst production of export left-hand drive versions will start in October 2010. With zero CO2 tailpipe emissions and minimal well-to-wheel generation of CO2, MMC’s i-MiEV makes a valuable contribution to climate protection.
The i-MiEV is planned for European launch in the end of 2010, and its charging system will be compatible with European 220/240V household outlets, providing for a zero-to-full charge within an estimated maximum seven hours.
Since it was established in 1986, the International Automobile Festival has wished to promote the talents of designers, artists, men and women who are at the forefront of developments in the automobile industry.

The all-electric Mitsubishi i MiEV city car is set to play a prominent role in one of the Government’s recently announced Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator projects being run by the Technology Strategy Board. The Mitsubishi will take part in the West Midlands’ CABLED (Coventry and Birmingham Low Emission Demonstrators) consortium, which includes industry, council, academic and power organisations, and is led by design and engineering consultant, Arup.1

L200 WINS ‘TOP TRUCK’ AWARD AT VAN FLEET WORLD HONOURS

Product innovation, specification, value, reliability and low running costs help secure another award for the Mitsubishi L200
Mitsubishi Motors UK today collected another prestigious Van Fleet World Award for its L200 pick-up truck, the fourth in a row proving that it’s still a very firm favourite with journalists and end users alike. For many years the L200 has led the way with its innovation, styling, specification and go-anywhere on- and off-road abilities.
John Kendall, Van Fleet World’s Editor remarked that, “The latest L200 was launched three years ago, introducing a new 2.5-litre 136PS common rail DI-D diesel, and a radical design departure. Mitsubishi Motors is the only manufacturer to have shifted significantly from the house brick school of pick-up design, adopting a more rounded and aerodynamic shape than its rivals.”
He went on to say that, “The interior keeps up the exterior design trend with a dashboard that would look quite at home in a car, while providing space for a digital tachograph, vital if used for towing. Mitsubishi’s in-house conversion facility means the company can fit the L200 with any equipment needed for the job too.”
Van Fleet World certainly put the Mitsubishi truck through its paces in a series of tough tests including multiple driving conditions, as well as gathering feedback across a spectrum of end-users.
Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi’s Managing Director, said that, “The L200 is of key importance to us. Whereas some manufacturers may spend five percent of their time thinking about their pick-up, we often employ over 25 percent of our time making sure every last detail is right: specification, value for money, running costs and residual values. This one model accounts for over 30 percent of our sales, so it’s well worth the investment of our time.”
Collecting the award for Mitsubishi Motors UK, Kate Woodward, Manager of Corporate Sales stated, “This vehicle is remarkable and goes from strength to strength for us. We are keeping an even keel with the L200 and it continues to sell in good numbers, even when others around us are determined to take short-term actions.”

City Mitsubishi - Eco Friendly Brand of Greener Cars

Mitsubishi has joined the eco-friendly party and launched its own brand of greener cars.
This Cleartec label will eventually go out across its range, but makes its debut on the Colt supermini
The main attraction is the Auto Stop & Go, Mitsubishi's own engine stop/start system.
To activate it, you just knock the gearbox into neutral when the car's stationary, take your foot off the clutch and the engine will switch itself off. To start it up again, step on the clutch and select a gear. Simple.
It gets the job done - average fuel consumption is 56.5mpg, and carbon dioxide emissions are an equally impressive 119g/km. This means you won't have to fill up with fuel quite so often and you'll pay only £35 a year for road tax.
In terms of equipment, the Cleartec gets the same kit as the Colt's mid-range CZ2 trim, with luxuries such as cruise control and air-conditioning as standard.
It also comes with low-rolling-resistance tyres, fitted to a set of 15-inch alloys. These do firm up the ride a little, but not enough so you need to get chummy with your chiropractor.
